Like Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Jrue Holiday and Trevor Ariza before him, Shabazz Muhammad joined the “one-hit wonder club” of the UCLA men’s basketball team.

As expected, since arriving in Westwood last year as a member of the nation’s second-ranked recruiting class, Muhammad, the Pac-12 Co-Freshman of the Year on Tuesday announced he’s elected to forego his remaining college eligibility and enter the 2013 NBA Draft.

Patience hasn’t been a virtue in college basketball, or any college sport for that matter, since cable television and ESPN became part of our lexicon.

UCLA’s patience with its men’s head basketball coach, Ben Howland, ended this past weekend after ten seasons.

Talk about a Spring wake-up call.

This past March, Bruins men’s head basketball coach Ben Howland was raked over the coals in a Sports Illustrated article calling him a hands-off coach that lost complete control of his team and the program.

Maybe Chris Dohrmann’s Sports Illustrated article claiming Bruins men’s head basketball coach Ben Howland’s lost his team was a bit overblown.

If anything, Howland’s a superior “Xs and Os” coach as well as a superior recruiter of talent.
